World War l will be remembered as one of the wars that took so many lives and casualties, and since last year was one hundred years since its beginning, we decided to give you some information about it.
In June 28, 1914 Gavrilo Princip, Serbian member of the movement " Young Bosnia " assassinated Franc Ferdinand, the heir to the Austrian throne.
This led to a lot of military outrages, miscalculations, that plunged the entire world into war, where you had British and French on one side ( later United States had joined them ) and Germany and the allies on the other side.
Historians believe that 37 million people perished, many of them soldiers, but, for the first time ever, a majority of them civilian.
We can say that unfortunately World War l started some kind of mechanized " warfare ", because a lot of new weapon were used back then, such as chemical weapons, the submarine, the tank etc, and they have never been used before.
World War l had " done " some things, that could never go back to what it used to be.
Entire empires crumbled: Austria-Hungary splintered into the Central and Eastern states that endured Nazi occupation and then Soviet communism for much of the 20th century.
The Ottoman Empire had also shattered into the half-formed nation states of the Middle East, and some of them still have a singular, national identity.
As you can see, nothing good or positive ever came from this war, or from the next one for that matter, and that's why it's good to remember this, hoping we ( whole world ) will never make the same mistake again.
