Nepal is a small South Asian Country having an estimated area of about 140,800 square kilometers. Nepal is located between Himalayan ranges and China from the North and is surrounded by the plains of river Ganges and India from the South. Nepal is a country which is covered by mountains more than 85% area of the country. This small South Asian country is divided into five development regions collectively having 14 zones along with 75 districts. The country has total 3,995 village development communities. It is considered as the only country officially declared as the Hindu country. More than 90% of the country’s population belongs to Hindu community.
Nepal was a densely populated country having a total population of about 25 million in 2000. At that time 41 % of the total population includes the people of age group of 14 years or younger. The country was having a population growth rate of 2.3 percent and the average life expectancy rate as near about 48 years. This is a country which was considered as one among the poorest countries and was having more than half of the population below the poverty line. Agriculture is the main occupation followed by more than 80 % people of the country. In foreign loans, Nepal was having a debt of near about 3 billion dollars.
Sanskrit language was used for the purpose of teaching and learning in eighteenth and nineteenth century. Therefore the country took small steps towards education with schools and finally universities.
